Marley & Me

Is Marley really the world’s worst dog? For me, he is the world’s best.

I just saw Marley & Me, starring Jennifer Aniston, Owen Wilson and the dog Marley. Marley & Me is a heart-warming movie about a family and their life with their dog.

I have heard about the movie weeks ago, saw a poster in the mall, and thought, maybe this would just be another dog movie. But just now that I am free of my school responsibilities, I got the time to download the movie on my laptop. That’s when again, a movie moved me. I am a dog-lover. When our dog was a “toddler”, she would listen to only me; not even my parents. That is why seeing this movie got me involved. There are times when you see a movie and afterwards you just say, “okay that was fine”. But for me, this movie is different. Okay, call me emotional but I just love dogs.

Marley & Me started out with John and Jennifer Grogan being married, hoping for “something” to care for other than a baby. They got Marley, a yellow Labrador Retriever, a happy one, active, playful, uncontrolled and property-destructive. They had big troubles with Marley but never did they treat Marley like any other dog. Marley & Me ended with a sad and emotional ending leaving a lot of lessons to the viewers.

I quote the last words of John Grogan from the movie:

A dog has no use for fancy cars, or big homes, or designer clothes; a water log stick will do just fine. Dog don’t care whether you’re rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb; give him your heart and he’ll give you his. John Grogan

By the way, Marley & Me is based on a true to life story written in an autobiography titled the same by John Grogan (the real John Grogan). Visit the official site of the book here and the movie here. I recommend the movie to everyone, especially those who are dog lovers. This movie is worth your time. Enjoy!

March Updates

March is coming to a very gruesome end; well, for me. I have yet to find out if it would be gruesome or not this March 30. Anyways, looking back, here are some significant events that happened to me this tiresome month. I’d like to recap some for myself.

Mini Becomes Hilarious

Yesterday, we restaged the Cebuano play Mini with all the best we can. And it was… hilarious. Maybe from the 5 groups who presented a play, our group was the most unprepared. But I am proud to say we had a very interesting and funny play that kept Ms. Tio giggling and guffawing all the time. It was long, it was full of mistakes, but I felt fulfilled afterwards. Sometimes, what matters most is not the achievement but the experience you get along the way. I’ve had fun. I’m sure of that. Ms. Tio also proposed to us that we do it again, maybe not in the classroom setting anymore but somewhere else (SM Cinema 1?) and she’ll be getting a sponsor. This is to promote Cebuano plays. Well, I’ll have to keep dreaming.

I’ll Be Missing The Dynamics

After a very hectic Literature 1 life, in the end, I found it after all worthwhile. My group in the play is the same group with every presentation we did in our class. We chose it that way. We were always “losers” in class. We always were 3 points behind the other group. Ha-ha. We aimed of surpassing them in the final play but I guess we will never surpass their seriousness. I don’t mind. The people in my group are more interesting and fun. I’d have to thank Khriss, Pong, Justine, Amos, Athena and Katrina for doing their best (?) in all our group work. See you at school, I hope. And of course, to Dah, Anne and Tamtam, I’ll see you at school whether I like it or not, ha-ha. I will miss the combination of the ten of us.

The Search Ends

Finally, I already have somewhere to have my OJT. I am so glad I secured myself a company before March would end. I will be having my OJT in iCatchIT in Talamban. And what I’ll do will probably be part of the SDLC. I am very happy to be accepted there. I may not be in IT Park but I guess that the fruits would be better. Hope I’ll catch it.

Higher Chance for BI

I am so relieved I passed my second long exam in Bioinformatics. This bit really scared me to death. Though I am still in the passing line, I just hope I would really pass the subject. My first 3.0? I don’t have a choice. Lord, spare me from getting a 5.0 please.

Sleepless Nights

My first sleepless night (2 hours of sleep only) happened this month. That is for the database project. We just had it checked by Ms. Wade this afternoon and we got a fairly high grade. I am very thankful for the blessing. Our 2 sleepless nights together with my group paid off. Thanks Maellen-sama and Emily-sama. I will do my evil laugh now.

I have 3 tasks to finish before March would end. Tomorrow would be our Philosophy Final Exam. On Monday would be my Life Philosophy and our Computer Architecture project wherein I have to modify Carpinelli’s code. Do you know him? Don’t. I just hope I get to finish all of those within a day and a half. May the Lord guide me and all of my classmates. How I wish for all of these to end.

The Speaks LIVE in Cebu

The Speaks, the band that popularized the song “High” together with our very own Barbie Almalbis, is back to the Philippines once again for a concert tour. The Speaks will be at SM City Cebu in April 3. This will be at 6 in the evening.

The Speaks is a Washington-based band composed of some Filipino-American members. Just like Boyce Avenue, they are also famous in the USA for being a YouTube sensation. The Speaks concert tour in the whole Philippines is to promote their newest album entitled “This Is The Time”.
