A Day At The Beach, Soon

I will be in Bluewater Resort again. And this time, still for free! Yes, free. The Cebu Bloggers Society is invited to a summer blowout at the Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort this coming May. Seems like my May schedule is a bit packed now. After the Manila-escapade week for the iBlog5 and the EK event, I will be in this event again (hopefully, please) at the heaty heaty beach! Even though I despise me getting [more] tanned. Yikes.

And this is not my first time in the resort. When I was 11 years old (that young, 8 years ago), my family also went to Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort for free, sponsored by Timex, my godmother’s company then. Of course, memories now are a bit blurry as that was almost a decade ago, but all I could remember is the huge pool, the white sand beach and the sharks! Rawr.

Probably, this will be my most memorable summer by far. I am working and I am traveling and I am beaching! Nyayaya. And somebody is there to help me think of my Special Problem for the last semester! God is so good, all the time.

Enjoy your summers everyone! One at a time.

Holy Week That Was

Happy Easter to all! Black to blue, the world has turned solemn to busy. The Holy Week is over. The customs and beliefs all now go back to the deep. The working life, the boring summer, the endless heat are all back.

What did I do with my Holy Week? I admit, this is the most unholy Holy Week that I had. Maundy Thursday was quite a surprise. Yays, not that unholy though. We prayed the rosary at the Rosary Center of St. Benedict’s Monastery in Carmen, had some reflection in their chapel. But afterward was quite unnecessary and wrong timing: the beach.

Cousins

I am sorry that I forgot the “shoulds” and “should nots” of each day of the Holy Week. I was primary schooled in a Catholic school but that was long ago, so never mind. One person sort of scolded me for enjoying the beach that day. Pffbt, I just love the beach, any day, any time! My grandma even enjoyed our beach moment, and she’s religious. Anyways, that was it. Visita Iglesia, a family/clan tradition, is supposed to happen during the night but my mother got a severe headache so we weren’t able to proceed. Good Friday, nothing happened. I don’t know if something must happen on that day. Poor and sinful me. On Black Saturday, we went to Redemptorist Church to attend the mass for the baptism of fire and water also called Easter Vigil.

Jesus Christ has risen

We have been attending that Easter Vigil for three consecutive years already and this time, we secured a good seat since we arrived an hour before the mass. One word that I could describe the Easter Vigil: dramatic. Next year, try attending Redemptorist Church’s Easter Vigil. It is a mass with a hint of theater.

Today, Easter Sunday, we did not go to church. We did not attend the traditional Sugat or the meeting of Jesus Christ and Mother Mary. This is supposed to be a splendid celebration, heard of an angel being flown from the top to unveil the Blessed Mother. Well, I never experienced Sugat in my life. Maybe I’ll try it in the coming years.

That ends my unholy Holy Week. But it doesn’t mean I don’t give importance to this season. The only thing we probably did wrong is not to follow tradition which I think is unnecessary. I don’t want to rant about Kierkegaard and churchism here, but all I want to say is sincerity is better than following customs because they are customs.

Tomorrow, I’ll be back at work, solving internal and external tribulations, fighting myself not to fight myself. On Tuesday, I will have myself enrolled for my OJT. And on Saturday, well, the much awaited CBS campout. Yikes, too much excitement can kill the excitement! Woohoo!

How about everyone’s Holy Week? Was it holy, sad or nothing? Welcome back to our ordinary lives!

Manila, iBlog5 And Many More

iBlog5: The 5th Philippine Blogging Summit

Am I already old enough that I am slowly reaching my dreams? A month from now, I will be in Manila, Diliman specifically, to attend the iBlog5. The iBlog5: The 5th Philippine Blogging Summit will be on May 9, 2009 (exactly a month from now) at the Malcolm Theater, UP College of Law, UP Diliman, from 8 am to 5 pm. Registration is free. All you need is a blog, what else? After the summit, there will be a sponsored after party! Ooh yeah.

I only heard of the Blogging Summit event this year. I did not know it has happened before. I am thankful I heard of it. It then got me thinking if I would attend or not given that I still have my OJT during that time. But I have decided, well I bought my tickets already, so there’s no turning back. I hope there would be many from CBS to attend the event. It would be really good for amateur bloggers like us to learn from the pros in the talks that would be given.

For more information, visit the official website. See the set of activities and talks here. Register for free here.

See you all at the iBlog5 Blogging Summit!

UP Diliman!

Phew, I can’t extinguish the excitement. I’ve been wanting to go to UP Diliman, which I consider our mother school, since last year because of the centennial celebration of our school. Our then plan to go there last December 2008 via Masbate-Bicol road trip didn’t push through because as usual, studies were demanding more attention. I never thought I could go there as early as 2009.

We from UP Cebu, though not all, are quite hungry at the prospect of going to UP Diliman. I am one of them. And going there next month is like a dream come true. Well of course at the expense of my savings. HAHA.

Manila, Yo!

And Manila. I know Cebu is still a better place to live in than Manila (except for the concerts), but I still wanted to see and feel how Manila runs. I’ve been to farther places but they always say Manila is exciting, so I better see. I just wanna try. The malls, the people, the sights, everything! So that when I go back to Cebu I would be filled with many many memories. And the amusement parks too! I think I could go to one! Rawr.

All of those are to happen within a month’s time. Yes, far from now, but I am too excited. Anyways, I still have so many things to accomplish before that to happen. I am doing poorly in adjusting to my workplace, which I admit. I am always poor in interacting with a new crowd. I need at least 5 days of meeting these people so I could get comfortable. Maybe this Monday I would greet each one of them “Good morning” and visit them on their respective stations. HAHA, kidding.

Anyways, I can’t wait for the adventure of my life to begin. Besides from traveling alone, I would be on my own in finding the place where I would stay. Thank you very to the nth power much Vanjohnn for “being so charitable” and for allowing me to stay at your place.

I can’t wait, really. To all iBlog5 participantes, see you there! Wee lotsa new faces to meet! Friends friends!
