The Last Airbender Gets Bad Reviews

I know what The Last Airbender is. I know it, by name. Though a Nickelodeon-fan kid before, I was not able to watch religiously this TV-series-turned-movie no matter how I want to. Time constraint just can’t get off of my sleeve. But people always tell me that it is a good one, an interesting one. And the movie is here to prove it to me.

In Youtube, people gave really really awful reviews for The Last Airbender. I’ve been excited about this since mid-2009 and was even partially disappointed that Avatar (which came out earlier) is not this. Now it’s here and I read bad reviews.

The trailer didn’t get me excited compared to Harry Potter 6′s trailer. Nevertheless, I may be watching this one in 3D (if available in SM) with my office mates, I suppose. Aside from watching how Mr-Slumdog-Millionaire works as a fantasy antagonist, I’m interested with the story and how it made watchers cuss. As for me, I am more of the appreciative type when it comes to movies — I even liked Dragon Ball Evolution when people hated it.

I just hope SM replaces Toy Story 3 3D fast and switch to The Last Airbender. By then, I’d be confused as to watch Avatar 3D in IMAX or this. Need to save up.

SM City Cebu’s IMAX Opens On July 9

SM City Cebu’s IMAX will open next week, July 9, to the public. The most talked movie from the last months, Avatar (in 3D), will be the first to be shown in IMAX. IMAX is coined as the ultimate movie experience because of its large screen, crisp display and improved sound. IMAX in the Philippines was first introduced in the SM Mall of Asia. SM City Cebu’s IMAX is the first outside of Metro Manila and would have a smaller screen, 14 meters, compared to MOA’s 22-meter high screen. SM City Cebu’s IMAX theater is a 400-seater by the way, to cater to the population of Visayas & Mindanao.
