Asia-in-a-Basket: A Yummy Food Bloggers Event in SM Foodcourt Cebu
30 November 2009 – Even though I was (and still am) sick during that day, I still managed to reach SM City Cebu’s Foodcourt on an eager tummy. A small area in the entrance part of Foodcourt was well prepared, decorated and lit to give way to a first-of-its-kind food event in a mall, the Asia-in-a-Basket Bloggers Meet. I am thankful that the management of SM City Cebu made this event possible.
Asia-in-a-basket showcases the food that we Pinoys (Asians in general) are proud of. We are known to be a nation of good food, they say. And I might as well say I agree with that and probably you too. The venue has 2 tables lined with different delectable dishes from seafood to meat to pastries and more. One table is for display only (picture taking, food camwhoring) and one for us to taste. Here are some shots I took with my cam:
Okay what do you think of the food? Writing it now after having my too ordinary lunch hours ago makes me hungry. Anyways, after the picture taking with those lucky good food, we were welcomed by SM Foodcourt’s staff specifically Ms. Geraldine Alunan, Foodcourt Manager of SM City Cebu. It was a warm welcome, one that could make your fingers twiddle with excitement thinking of the sumptuous meal waiting for you. Ok, the next part is the meal yes. Here’s what I got on my plate:
No I’m not on a diet. As I’ve mentioned I’m sick and my appetite’s real low so I couldn’t get any more enthusiastic with food that time. I got a favorite, steamed rice from Golden Bowl. Then I got the Bicol Express Tuna from Fishport, chicken pandan from King Wah Chinese Cuisine, fried wanton from Golden Bowl again, crablets from Marina Seafoods, and more on my plate (I just can’t name them now coz I forgot, ooh bad blogger). I then had my piece of apple pie from Venetian Coffee. I also had just water for my drink. I don’t consume softdrinks anymore.
Anyways after the food tasting is the live blogging contest. Since I didn’t have the energy to bring my laptop to the mall, I did not join the contest. Vanjohnn of FocalGlass.com won the contest and he got a huge amount of GC from Foodcourt. Congrats! The event ended with us individually given our certificates of participation and a GC from a random Foodcourt tenant plus some bundles of grocery food. I got a 150 GC from Golden Bowl (meaning I get to eat steamed rice again, yey).
I’d like to give my biggest thanks to the management of SM City Cebu Foodcourt, to Ms. Geraldine Alunan (manager), to the tenants of SM Foodcourt who showcased their food (I got a list below don’t worry) and to Cebu Bloggers Society.
So if you happen to drop by SM Cebu’s Foodcourt, you gotta try the following food:
