The Fallen: End of Days hangs by its ending

Victory is fleeting, but defeat is eternal.

Even with work and some other stuff, I was able to finish Thomas Sniegoski’s The Fallen: End of Days, 3rd book of the Fallen series, in a span of less than a week. It was fast, and I know I’m supposed to savor the book’s contents but it was exciting nonetheless, and thus made me read faster and faster. Yet, it only lead me to a budding question mark.

An excerpt from the Epilogue:

The Morningstar.
But now the body belonged to him, and Lucifer was no more.
“Bow before me,” he proclaimed in a voice that rumbled like thunder.
“Bow your heads before Satan–the Darkstar–
“The Lord of Shadows.”
THE END?

Surprisingly, the book’s ending is with a question mark. Before the book was released, I was already on the mind set that End of Days will be the last of the series. But then the book title tricked me into thinking it so. The book could very well have a sequel. What with the question mark.

The Fallen: End of Days continues with the Nephilim Aaron’s quest in ridding the world of evil. He, together with his father Lucifer, creates a team of Nephilim to help get rid of foul monsters that are slowly emerging now that the Powers are gone. But a more pressing matter came at hand when they learned that a small group of Powers angels were left by Verchiel to call on the end of days. Lead by Geburah, they sought on the instrument that could call the only angel that could end of the world, Wormwood. They tracked down the instrument, a harmonica, now protected by a youngster named Dusty. The Nephilim came at aid and this lead them to a great battle between Nephilim and Powers. But alas, the harmonica has been played and Wormwood called.

Reaction to The Cove

I have always been a fan of dolphins ever since I was a child. The 1996 film starring Elijah Wood was a long-time favorite. Flipper. I even have a movie storybook of it. But I have never seen an actual dolphin yet. I know where they are in the Philippines though and I am planning to go next year.

But then I saw The Cove.

The Cove is a 2009 documentary film that analyzes and questions Japan’s dolphin hunting culture (from Wikipedia). Take note of the world culture. The documentary is an eye-opener — with what is actually happening in Japan, specifically in Taiji (太地) where dolphins are numerously caught, slaughtered and their meat sold.

Update 001: Starting the update series

Yep, I decided to start an “update series” on my blog which starts with this one, coded 001 — personal consumption and for recollection-of-memories purposes. I noticed that it actually helps to blog even the smallest and nonsensical things in your life; years or even just months from now, you’ll be able to gauge how much you have changed and even how stupid or funny you were quite some time ago.

Who says only photographs can store memories? The MySQL database beneath this blog can also do too.

Where to begin?

It’s October. It means Christmas is coming — I haven’t felt it yet though. Times have roughly changed. It’s also my father’s birth month. Where to eat?

To the beach. Beach bumming at the end of the month is not a bad idea — it’s a brilliant idea! And when with friends, brilliant-er! What makes it brilliant-est?
