Cebu Bloggers Society turns 3

Last February 21, 2009, I joined Cebu Bloggers Society, then just a ‘growing’ group of bloggers in Cebu. It was an overwhelming experience meeting the other bloggers of Cebu; it was like meeting a new family. I remembered it well, a meeting done at Enovlink — my first meeting. I thank again Mark & Vanjohnn for persuading me to come and join the group. And I just did.

Today marks my 2nd year as a Cebu Bloggers Society member. My 2 years were filled with fun and intriguing moments. I met new and amazing friends for keeps. Looking back, I actually miss the original people I bonded with when I was a newbie. Where are you now?

Anyways, CBS has evolved into a bigger and more serious organization now. I’m happy to see it grow and reach out to the bigger community. The CBS @ 3 Anniversary party in PAGCOR, Casino Filipino Parkmall Satellite Branch last Saturday, was quite simple yet successful. Even with just a quite few old faces and a handful of new, we still had fun. The bonding that came after the party was also great, getting to bond with old friends once again. Brush aside awkward moments, that night was a good one.

Congratulations CBS. And to me for my 2nd year. I look forward to more years in CBS and to contribute to its betterment.

Special thanks to Mr. Renato Z. Osmeña, Jr., Casino Filipino Parkmall Satellite Branch manager, and to Holister, Inc. for the food and venue. Photo credit to Vince Delicano.

Moved To A New Blog Host, But Why?

Yes, I finally moved. My previous host, Tracspace (previously iRock Webhosting), is currently okay but given the incidents from the past few months, I decided to pack my things (aw files) and move away.

Why did I decide to change? Months or weeks (I couldn’t remember) ago, my blog got hacked and it displayed this image below. (Beware it might scare you lol)

I accessed this page just right now through their server’s IP address. Look how they didn’t even remove that up to now. What actually disappointed me that time is how slow they were to assist me in fixing the hack. Yes, I removed by myself the index.php files that the hackers inserted in every folder of the server. When they finally messaged me, they said that THEY fixed the problem already. I didn’t mind that though — them claiming to have helped me. This week, 3 days ago, the server or the name server was down, I’m not sure. I can ping the server’s IP address though so I thought it has to be the name server. I sent a support ticket (Feb 9, 10:48AM), got no answer. I sent another (Feb 10, 8:44PM) and got my response after a few hours (Feb 11, 12:47AM).  That’s 2 days from my first ticket.

I won’t make this too complicated. I understand that servers do go down sometimes; I know that since I work in the IT industry. What I just wanted is to be informed. Being two days late for their reply is such a big turn off. Hence, after a year with Tracspace, I decided to transfer this blog. My Tracspace account won’t be closed until it gets expired though.

My new host is named Hosting Services- USA-Taiwan-Philippines. Too long? It’s really affordable since I got the 600 pesos plan (I might upgrade). And I’m impressed with the quick replies — maybe because the people behind this live in the same timezone as me. Replies take a matter of minutes only. That’s what I’m looking for a decent web host. Tracspace must incorporate that to their system.

That’s it for now. This blog’s now running in a new world. Congrats to me. :)

New Blog Theme For 2011

I just switched from my old Modernist theme to this current one called Design Pile. It’s actually rare of me to use a dark theme for my blog; but things change. I actually got everything in good function except for the threaded comments. With no luck, I decided to stick to non-threaded comment style which I guess is okay.

I hope this theme change will motivate me to blog more often now. I’ve tried this before. Every time I change to a new theme, I feel like blogging even more.

Check this out. Thanks to Awesome Screenshot extension of Google Chrome.

Design Pile

Plus, I made a custom logo for the theme in just a few minutes. :) Sleek.

Any comment?
