Asia-in-a-Basket: A Yummy Food Bloggers Event in SM Foodcourt Cebu

30 November 2009 – Even though I was (and still am) sick during that day, I still managed to reach SM City Cebu‘s Foodcourt on an eager tummy. A small area in the entrance part of Foodcourt was well prepared, decorated and lit to give way to a first-of-its-kind food event in a mall, the Asia-in-a-Basket Bloggers Meet. I am thankful that the management of SM City Cebu made this event possible.

Asia-in-a-basket showcases the food that we Pinoys (Asians in general) are proud of. We are known to be a nation of good food, they say. And I might as well say I agree with that and probably you too. The venue has 2 tables lined with different delectable dishes from seafood to meat to pastries and more. One table is for display only (picture taking, food camwhoring) and one for us to taste. Here are some shots I took with my cam:

Jollibee Launches New Chicken Barbecue in Cebu

September 15, 2009 – I was one of those who attended Jollibee’s launch of their newest product, Jollibee Chicken Barbecue, in Jollibee Guadalupe in Cebu City. So what is this Jollibee Chicken Barbecue by the way? In their press release, it is stated that:

With the Jollibee Chicken Barbecue, Jollibee takes a Filipino gastronomic classic and improves upon it, creating the perfect version of the dish. Made only from generous premium chicken cuts, it uses a special marinade made from top secret ingredients which endows it with that mouth-watering barbecue taste. Soaked long enough for the flavor to thoroughly seep in, it also utilizes a special culinary technique that allows it to be thoroughly cooked while still remaining juicy and tender. Furthermore, the Jollibee Chicken Barbecue is served with its perfect accompaniments—a delicious barbecue dipping sauce and steaming java rice—for a truly memorable dining experience.

Basically, Jollibee’s launching of this new product aims to bring the Filipino spirit when it comes to fast food. A big milestone for them since most fast food chains serve American-style food. This is what you call an “innovation” in the fast food industry. Continue reading

Cebu Bloggers Society:”Yehey!”

Yehey.Com, Philippines’ number one portal and search engine has finally decided to meet up with the uber-active Cebu Bloggers Society last May 28, 2009 at La Maison in The Terraces, Ayala Center Cebu.

Yehey.Com has been recognizing the power of blogging for a long time already. They already had big events for bloggers in Manila like the over-mentioned TriNoma event for bloggers (it should also happen to us here, you know :D ). Yehey believes that online advertising is one key to a successful business. That is why they recognize bloggers as catalysts for such online advertising system to grow and be noticed even by the larger crowd. What I like about Yehey is how they put things in a mutualistic manner between them, the bloggers and the advertisers. Other “institutions” use bloggers, pay them and tell them what to do. But that is the total opposite of what a real blogger is. Yehey knows that and adheres to ideas that do not break the essence of blogging. After a quick slideshow by Mr. Lim, Yehey’s CEO, small questions were answered. In the end, we signed an invisible contract forging cooperation between us bloggers and the Yehey team.
