MTV Emerge Brings Us Philippines’ Newest Music Talents

Philippines’ music industry is starting to boom rise. Every now and then we discover a lot of new musical talents; some go as far as the international music scene. And yes, we want more. As we slowly emerge into the outskirts of our own country’s tune, we also feel the great need to start supporting more and more great talents that could only not let us say “wow” but also could make us proud of them and our being Filipino.

With all this, we thank the existence of MTV Emerge. MTV Emerge is a platform for unsigned music talent in the Philippines to showcase their work and to be given an opportunity to win a one-year recording contract with Jeepney Music (to be discussed further below). MTV Emerge is an MTV, Jeepney Music, and Department of Tourism collaboration. They are together in scouting for the hottest unsigned music talents from all genres of music, may it be rock, pop, indie, hip-hop, R&B, metal, ballad, solo artists, DJs and a lot more. It is also considered as an online community where each one of us can discover fresh local music artists.

Participants can register and upload their profiles, photos and original music on the MTV Emerge website to get discovered. And there are beautiful prizes at stake. After a public voting process, seven grand winners will be selected. And that would be on November 20, 2009. Selection of winners will be made by a panel of judges which includes our very own Apl.de.Ap, who is the founder of Jeepney music and famous for his group, the Black Eyed Peas. Continue reading →

[This post is about It's Gonna Make Sense by Michael Learns to Rock] Wow, long time that I haven’t shared any song here in my blog. Usually, I only share those songs that make big impact to me and here’s one of em.

I watch PBB (almost everyday) because I think it’s one thing that’s keeping me sane. And there’s this song that they always play, cool song, but I don’t know the title not even the singer. But just today I saw in one of the plurks of strangers this song and it says it is a PBB song. I checked it out and this is it, what I’m looking for.

Lines From a Musical Comedy-Drama Series

Let me get this straight. Here are some lines of songs which I think might be applicable to me during these wee times.

Can anybody find me somebody to love?

I just gotta get out of this prison cell; Someday I’m gonna be free, Lord!

Been through this thought lately. And somebody, somebody should answer my heed. The song is originally by Queen and is now a hit in the musical-comedy TV series Glee. Song’s entitled Somebody To Love, lead by Lea Michele and Cory Monteith. You better listen to the song now.

And I can’t fight this feeling anymore; I’ve forgotten what I started fighting for

Well, guess what, Cory Monteith sang this in the shower cubicle in the Pilot episode of Glee. This is one great song and one that could make me think of an awful lot of things that’s NOT happening on my life. Rarr. But really, that line above weighs much and I don’t know how to explain.

These are my confessions; It’s now or never; I ain’t gonna live forever

It’s a great mash-up. Mash-up is like a medley. Bon Jovi’s It’s My Life mixed with Usher’s Confessions, Pt. II is awesome. Cory Monteith sings this together with the rest of the Glee guys while they’re on high. Girls also have their own mash-up. If you notice, that line’s my current status message in YM.
