CMSC 142 Class Tours Cebu North!

As part of the finals activity for the CMSC 142 class, we decided to have Suroy-suroy Sugbo, a class tour to some hot spots in Cebu North. Touring Cebu South is cliche so we decided to do it the opposite way this time.

Our first stop is in Lilo-an — where lilo or whirlpools are frequent. We went to see Silot Bay. Nothing fascinating really. Maybe because I’ve been here before. And the scorching sun’s heat was killing the enjoyment at the first stop.

Next stop is in Q Park, Compostela. It is a place of retreat. But then again, the challenge of going up to the top defeated us all. And Holy Week wasn’t due til next week, so we decided to go to the next stop instead. We went to Danao City. We stopped at their historical-looking Santo Tomas de Villanueva Church (photo below), strolled a little at the park, then filled their kids playground with our baby faces. I even think we scared off the kids playing in the playground. Continue reading

The Ten Things You’ll Love About Plantation Bay Resort & Spa

January 23, 2010 – Micamyx and I were “scheduled” for a tour around one of Cebu’s premier beach resorts. After my class, I went to Mica’s hotel so we could go together to the resort. After a jeepney ride to SM, we took a taxi. We rented the taxi for a flat price of Php300 from SM. It was a not so long ride… then we reached our destination.

Plantation Bay Resort & Spa

I expected a very grand entrance. What surprised me is a homey, humble facade of a 5-star resort. Mica’s uncle Mr. Gerry Rodriguez who is the Executive Housekeeper, welcomed both us. And he initiated the day tour. He was with us the 3 hours plus we were touring on the resort. And so, here’s my own list of the ten things you’ll love about Plantation Bay Resort and Spa.

Maribago is my Quasi-Paradiso

The first time I’ve been to Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort, I was more or less 11 years old. I still have pictures of the place (and me) stacked here in the photo album but I’d rather not share… too embarrassing. The second time I was there I was already 19 years old  and that was last summer where Maribago Bluewater invited us bloggers to explore the place. The third time was weeks ago when they opened their art gallery and we were invited to witness its grand opening. And the fourth time is what I’ll be sharing about now.

Sir Ruben Licera from Maribago/CBS told us that every Sunday starting October 25 until four weeks, 5 bloggers are given free day-tour passes to the resort. I signed up for the first Sunday, October 25. I then knew that the slots for October 25 were increased to 10 (and November 1 would be cancelled). Lucky or not?

My first goal for that resort trip was to rest. I’ve had excreted much energy last semester and I thought I might recharge at the beach. Well, all these inkling thoughts, erased.

Mikyu, Kai, Iggy, Atty. Ouano, Beejing, Agnes, Mark, Zyra, Blair and I were the first bloggers to enjoy Maribago’s treat.

We went to the resort around 9am as instructed by Sir Ruben. We then passed by the front desk, we were allowed in and went directly to the beach front. At this point, we were clueless with what to do. Kill time, I suppose. We picked those beach chairs under the huts but were told by officers that we are not allowed to do so unless we are checked-in. Ah, day-tour guests are only allowed those beach chairs unaccompanied by huts, lol. Remember that. Continue reading
