[Asian Troubadours] Music is what makes us alive. Simple melodies can bring back the zest in us that we thought we have lost along the journeys in our life. As Aldous Huxley said, “After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music“.
Last July 11, 2009, at the Digital Filipino Club and Bloggers Networking Event, some of us got some free CD’s (through really fighting to getting one for ourselves :pirate: ). It is actually the debut sampler of the new local band Asian Troubadours.
Asian Troubadours was formed in 2008 and is composed of Wilson Ng (Piano), Nendel Endrina (Keyboards), Hannah Go (Violin) and Hazel Sanchez (Drums). Ever since then, they have been showcasing their music through various events around Cebu. The Asian Troubadours debut sampler is a compilation of some of their music including classical music, ballads, folk song and original compositions.
The tracks included in the debut sampler are: The Prayer, Canon in D, Tears in Heaven, Usahay, Can’t Help Falling in Love and Cebu 440 Overture among others. The complete list is seen in the image below.
Take note that the music of the Asian Troubadours are instrumental music. This is a common diversion to the usual modern music of pop and rock that the present generation usually divulges into. Their music is something that would bring us to the roots of all music. I always admire the music produced by the violin and the piano. I even once spent an hour plus doing nothing but listen to the songs of the pianist in the atrium of SM Cebu Northwing. Probably a frustration since I’ve always wanted to learn how to play those instruments and never had the chance to.
So let’s set aside Boom Boom Pow for a while and spend some relaxing moment with the music of the Asian Troubadours. One great song from their debut sampler is the Cebu 440 Overture, an original composition of Nendel Endrina. This song with a great melody and some groovy tunes is the official theme song that will be played all throughout the month long celebration of the 440th year celebration of the province of Cebu.
The YouTube video above is actually the song Cebu 440 Overture. Please do listen. A few minutes of playful tunes won’t hurt you.
I hope Asian Troubadours would expand their horizons and reach their goal of releasing an official CD and a music video before the year ends. The music they play and create would change the outlook of people on music. Well I don’t know with other people, but personally I appreciate classics and soft tunes much. Probably an effect of living outside the highly urbanized areas for all my life. (Maybe that’s why I don’t like paryting
)
Maybe you could find these debut sampler CD on NGenius IT Hub stores or I don’t know. Just check out all the tracks on this CD at their official iMeem page.
