I recently found out that my blog can’t display Japanese characters on posts and comments. Instead of kana and kanji, question marks are displayed. I sought for a solution online and can’t find a proper post about it. So I thought I might share this very simple solution. Here is how to display Japanese characters on your WordPress blog.
1. Look for the wp-config.php file of your blog.

Look for the wp-config.php file and open it.
2. Comment out the line that says: define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8′); . Put two slashes before that line to comment it out (for those who don’t know).

Comment out the highlighted line.
There you go. You can now see and type in Japanese characters on your posts, comments, and dashboard.
たとえば、このブログはとてもすばらしくてすてきですね。。。
Type in your comments in Japanese!
ありがとうございます。

「このブログはとてもすばらしくてすてきですね。。。」 –> うそだ! ハハハ じょうだんだよ。
おめでとうね! おつかれさま~
