I Grew Up With Nickelodeon On The TV Screen
The other night when I had a small chitchat with The Photoblogger, we suddenly reached a topic about the TV shows that we used to watch when we were kids. Suddenly, Courage the Cowardly Dog (from Cartoon Network), got into my head. I then thought why not recall all the TV programs I used to watch when I was a kid. I know it would be a very long post so I limited it only [at first] with Nickelodeon shows. Thank God for cable TV, Nick came.
I also would share something I read (in Youtube I think) about today’s kids’ programs and movies. Well actually that was a comment for the Hannah Montana movie and the commenter hates the movie and the actress. She said, the kids’ programs before (like The Adventures of Pete and Pete in Nickelodeon) were the real kids’ TV programs rather than a superstar-turning-into-a-cowgirl-a-k-a-Hannah-Montana. No offense. I have nothing against the movie nor the actress.
So here goes the trip to the kiddy lane list:
1. The Adventures of Pete and Pete
Two kids. Two zany kids living in a small funny town. Well that’s all I could remember. And I know I loved that show. Why? Because I was also a stupid kid. Well, until now maybe.
This is my all time favorite kids reality TV show. This is the real kids show! They happen to reach the year 2005 though I probably stopped watching it years before that. But still, it was a great kids show. Even the reruns are not boring. This is where the likes of Amanda Bynes (she is really funny actually even before she started going out in movies) started. Kenan and Kel were my sister and I’s much remembered pair and we named two dogs after them. The latest seasons, I haven’t watched them too much, but I think I have reached the time where Britney’s sis came in. She’s not good. All That always ends with a singer performing. And that was one of the good parts.
I tell you, Amanda Bynes is really a very good and natural comedienne. I’ve seen her start and I’ve seen her in Hairspray. Haha.
One of the best! Very imaginative stories at hand. And they’re scary too. And there’s still a picture in my mind that I could remember. It was about kids stuck in nowhere where monsters (no not the kiddy monsters but real ones) are to get them one by one. Well, it was cool.
This is funny! They’re hilarious and abnormal (obviously) and plain stupid. They’re for those who just want to watch a silly movie and laugh their hearts off.
A reality show for everyone including Nick stars. This is fun and educational. It is also fun figuring out the phrases. All I could remember is… *sings* Figure it out! Figure it out! Figure it out! Figure it out! Figure it ooooooooooout!
Love sports? GUTS is for you! I have always wanted to join that game if given the chance. Running around, catching balls, climbing the icy mountain (?), breaking brick walls using the stout bike, swimming, anything! There are lots of challenges and the kid in me then wanted to try them all out. Well until now actually.
That football-headed kid. And her love, the big-mouthed Helga (comparable to Rugrat’s Angelica). I love the story lines. And the funny-shaped characters gave it a distinct touch. This is making me miss my childhood. Sigh.
Yeah, aside from being in All That, Kenan and Kel got their own funny show! Two brothers who are always on the lookout for a good laugh.
10. Legends of the Hidden Temple
Just like GUTS, I badly wanted to join Legends of the Hidden Temple! When I was a kid, I really love physical challenge. I love the challenges like crossing of the pool, the brainy quiz and last but not the least The Temple Run! Sigh, I just wish I could try the challenge even now. I love puzzles and action puzzles and adventures and all sort. I miss this show.
Waaaa! The Rugrats is really very baby-ish but it is very funny and weird! And cool. The older generation wasn’t that good though.
Another show where the characters’ faces and bodies are out out shape. Eliza looks weird. But the show is really educational. And adventurous and exciting and hyper and stupid. I love stupid kiddy shows.
13. The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius
Here’s one little genius guy which I think we all know of. And that robotic dog is robotic. Heeeh. I haven’t seen the movie though. The TV series in itself was good enough. I learned what a llama is in this show.
A kid with odd godparents who are fairies. One is stupid and one is a bit less of a stupid. Haha, again this show is not only stupid but also educational and moral.
Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Spongebob Squarepants!
Who does not know Spongebob? We all know this pornographic sponge! Kidding. HAHA. Spongebob is really fun. It would drain all your brain cells but it will teach you a very important lesson about life and friendship if you also know how to analyze his stupid acts.
So what’s the big deal in recalling all these? Nothing. I just want to recall my childhood TV days. Of course I wasn’t rooted to the TV all the time. I also had my share of running around, playing kite, playing traditional Filipino games, bullying other kids and a lot more. But if I am to stay at home, I watch these shows. I also watch a lot of Cartoon Network and Power Rangers and their variants which I will post sometime later too.
Did you have the same childhood too? Or were your drowning yourself with the brickgame thing? Yeeha!
