Jollibee Launches New Chicken Barbecue in Cebu
September 15, 2009 – I was one of those who attended Jollibee’s launch of their newest product, Jollibee Chicken Barbecue, in Jollibee Guadalupe in Cebu City. So what is this Jollibee Chicken Barbecue by the way? In their press release, it is stated that:
With the Jollibee Chicken Barbecue, Jollibee takes a Filipino gastronomic classic and improves upon it, creating the perfect version of the dish. Made only from generous premium chicken cuts, it uses a special marinade made from top secret ingredients which endows it with that mouth-watering barbecue taste. Soaked long enough for the flavor to thoroughly seep in, it also utilizes a special culinary technique that allows it to be thoroughly cooked while still remaining juicy and tender. Furthermore, the Jollibee Chicken Barbecue is served with its perfect accompaniments—a delicious barbecue dipping sauce and steaming java rice—for a truly memorable dining experience.
Basically, Jollibee’s launching of this new product aims to bring the Filipino spirit when it comes to fast food. A big milestone for them since most fast food chains serve American-style food. This is what you call an “innovation” in the fast food industry.
I personally have seen the Chicken Barbecue being served before but I haven’t had the chance to try it until its launching recently. The event was quick, steady and organized. I may have arrived late (since I came from an exam) and missed the opening activities but I sure didn’t miss out on trying the Chicken Barbecue. Two cuts of Chicken Barbecue with sauce was served together with two pies, soup and sundae. I had a plentiful lunch.
My verdict on the Chicken Barbecue: It wasn’t really grand and extraordinary but it was juicy, yummy yes and semi-sweet. What do we expect from a Pinoy-style chicken barbecue? Yes, they captured the simplicity, juiciness and flavor of the “tatak Pinoy” chicken barbecue. And I’m glad they did. We must not forget that we are a barbecue people and gladly, even a fast food restaurant now serves such kind of food. No more dangerous fry.

Pibi, Zyza, Guada, Bryan enjoying Jollibee delights!
So to those who haven’t tried this Chicken Barbecue yet, it’s time to give it a go and experience how it’s like to be a Pinoy fast food eater.
I’d like to thank Ms. Chele Mendoza, Stratworks’ PR Manager, for inviting me and my blogger friends to this event. Thanks a lot for the warm acquaintance since Day 1. Thanks to Doyzkie, Atty. Ouano, Guada, Zyza, Pibi and Clado for coming to the event.
More power to Jollibee!

Nganong na Rosarosa naman na imo name ui?
i’ve tried this!
twas a bit dry and did not seem fresh off the grill. they really should serve it hot. the flavor of the chicken was pretty good, although i didn’t like the sauce very much, reminded me of mcdonald’s barbecue sauce for their chicken nuggets.

Hello Deejay!
Hmmm siguro nataymingan ka na di na mainit yung bbq. Or ewan. Yung na-try ko din di na hot. The sauce daw is sweet so I didn’t try it out. I don’t like sweet sauce kasi.
There’s room for improvement naman for this product. Hope they’ll listen.
