Joe, Shorts, Bandslam and The Final Destination among others would surely tickle your pockets. Ok, you get what I mean, don’t you? :!:

Movies Coming Out on August 2009

So here are the many movies coming out on August 2009:

AUGUST 7, 2009

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Duke and Ripcord are two specially trained military operatives who join an elite international team called “G.I. Joe.” This highly-skilled unit works under the radar, answers to no one, uses the latest in ultra-high-tech equipment, and does not accept failure as an option. Their current assignment will take them all over the world as they go head-to-head with an infamous arms dealer known as Destro and learn the dark truths behind the ominous new organization known only as “Cobra.” – from movies.yahoo.com

Well who would not know about G.I. Joe? I personally grew up knowing the existence of G.I. Joe. I remember a have a G.I. Joe T-shirt. I also know action toys were famous before. So what’s the catch? Starring Channing Tatum, Dennis Quaid and Sienna Miller, expect an action-packed movie that will leave you hanging on your seats. I’ve seen the trailer, I guess you should too now.

Julie & Julia

Starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams (Echanted), Julie & Julia is a movie which is actually based (for the first time) on a blog. Julie Powell, a secretary who hits the big 3-0 feeling is very unsatisfied with her life. As a way of spicing things up, she cracks open a copy of Julia Child’s “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” and decides to cook all 524 recipes herself. They are not sisters but are considered soul-sisters. Enjoy this movie in a light and delicious manner. Trailer

A Perfect Getaway

Cliff and Cydney are an adventurous young couple celebrating their honeymoon by backpacking to one of the most beautiful, and remote, beaches in Hawaii. Hiking the wild, secluded trails, they believe they’ve found paradise. But when the pair comes across a group of frightened hikers discussing the horrifying murder of another newlywed couple on the islands, they begin to question whether they should turn back. Unsure whether to stay or flee, Cliff and Cydney join up with two other couples, and things begin to go terrifyingly wrong. Far from civilization or rescue, everyone begins to look like a threat and nobody knows whom to trust. Paradise becomes hell on earth as a brutal battle for survival begins… – from movies.yahoo.com Trailer

Shorts

Bring back the kid in you! “Be careful what you wish for” takes on a very real meaning when an 11-year-old Toe Thompson gets hit on the head by a mysterious, rainbow-colored rock. He soon discovers that the rock will grant his wishes, but this seeming dream come true results in chaos. From the director of Spy Kids, Shorts is a magical movie to entertain the young and the old alike. Kiddo movies always rock!

Bandslam

Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical) is back  !. Together with Alyson Michalka, Gaelan Connell and Lisa Kudrow, they bring in Bandslam, a rock-and-roll, musical-ish type of teen movie. Watch the Trailer and you’ll see how fun the movie is!

District 9

The plot of this film has been shrouded in secrecy for quite some time, but at last certain details are coming to light. An alien race has come to earth on a one-way ticket, becoming stranded in Africa. Now seen as yet another mistrusted minority, the “non-humans” live in a dangerous ghetto and labor for little to no pay. But when a human encounters some strange non-human technology that begins to affect him in disturbing ways, his perspective on the situation changes drastically. – from movies.yahoo.com

If you want bloody violence, this movie is for you. Trailer

The Time Traveler’s Wife

Starring Eric Bana (Troy) and Rachel McAdams (The Notebook), The Time Traveler’s Wife revolves around the story of the time traveler who constantly and sometimes uncontrollably goes back and forth in various time lines of his life and his wife who is truly in love with him and tries to live a perfect and normal couple life. The Time Traveler’s Wife is a romantic film with a touch of scientific fiction. But more on the drama, really. Trailer

Ponyo

Walt Disney Pictures brings us Ponyo, a story about a 5-year-old boy named Sosuke and his relationship with a goldfish princess named Ponyo who longs to become human. Ponyo cast includes Cate Blanchett and Noah Cyrus. Ponyo is from the maker of Academy Award winner Spirited Away (which is really a good film). This film does not look like an ordinary Disney cartoons. It is made in Studio Ghibli, Japanese-owned. Thus the movie has a Japanese feel. Trailer

Inglorious Basterds

Set in Nazi-occupied France where American soldiers, French peasants, French resistance and Nazi occupiers all collide.

Brad Pitt stars as Lieutenant Aldo Raine who organized a group of Jewish soldiers to engage in targeted acts of retribution against the German army in a Nazi-occupied France. Known to their enemy as “The Basterds,” Raine’s squad joins German actress and undercover agent Bridget Von Hammersmark on a mission to take down the leaders of The Third Reich. Fates converge under a cinema marquee, where Shosanna is poised to carry out a revenge plan of her own. Trailer

Post Grad

Too common? I guess so. But this is a comedy that will surely (or maybe) bring you the laughs! Trailer

The Final Destination

Here comes the newest installment from The Final Destination series. Bloody! They say that this Final Destination would be the bloodiest among all. I loved the previous Final Destination movies. They were gruesome and traumatic. So the latest one would probably drive the nuts out of you.

So what’s the story? Nick O’Bannon is about to enjoy a day at the racetrack with a big group of his friends, when he is suddenly overcome by a gruesome, detailed premonition. He forsees an accident that sends flaming debris into the collapsing stands. He manages to evade the gruesome reality by getting his friends out in time, but as we know well by now, death is not so easily cheated. Nick must watch his friends die in horrific ways, one by one, while he races to figure out a way to cheat death once and for all. – from movies.yahoo.com

Halloween II

Have you seen Halloween I? I haven’t. Not a fan really.

Laurie Strode may have defeated her lumbering, murderous brother Michael Myers, but she has only begun the battle against her own personal demons. Picking up immediately after the 2007 Halloween remake left off, this violent tale of psychological horror focuses on the aftermath suffered by Laurie in the wake of Michael’s rampage through Haddonfield. – from movies.yahoo.com Trailer
