My Cebu Island Hopping Experience (Part 2)
This is a continuation of My Cebu Island Hopping Experience (Part 1). After Hilutungan Marine Sanctuary, our banca headed off to the next destination: Nalusuan Island.
Nalusuan Island
Nalusuan Island is still in Cebu’s boundaries. Like Hilutungan, it is also home to the country’s most exotic fishes and sea creatures. Nalusuan Island is just a small island. We docked at the side where there is a wharf. The sandbar though is located behind the island and we didn’t go there. I actually recorded a short video while we’re docking at the island. You would see how crystal clear the waters surrounding Nalusuan are.
We were at first hesitant to go down the banca because maybe we were tired of swimming in Hilutungan. But eventually we all went down and went farther to the tip of the wharf. We saw two squids while walking (my first time to see them in the sea). We were then VERY surprised that we saw a school of big yellow fishes lying beneath the hut-like structure on the tip of the wharf. There are almost a thousand of the dormant yellow fishes below that ignored the bread we threw at the waters. There are smaller and medium ones though that are fighting for the bread. Very funny. Hundreds fighting for a bread crumb. And they’re colorful too. It’s still a mystery why the big yellow ones don’t care much.
I was not supposed to swim but the many fishes waiting for me below did not stop me. I got some bread from the banca and then went down to the sea. I literally fed the stripe (yellow and black/blue) fishes on my palm. Some were even biting my fingers. :halo: When the bread’s gone, I swam at the deep sea and rested on a wooden joint under the wharf. I then swam under the wharf (I wonder if the yellow fishes stirred to my movements) to the small stairs. We all then went back to the banca to prepare for our final destination, Pandanon Island.
