Yeah yeah welcome back Extraordinary Kiddo! My blog is alive again. It went down (got suspended accdg. to the host, duh) last Thursday, October 22, 2009. It came down along the blogs of Atty. Ouano of laagcebu.com and Pibi of sopibreal.com (now on a new host). It was a sad event actually and it overwhelms me that my classmates know about it and they are asking if I’m sad, hahaha. Honestly I was sad for a short while. Who wouldn’t be? My blog’s my extension. But after a day, I decided to move on and forget about it. Que sera sera. But good enough I have a backup of my database and files, even though outdated, but at least there is. I then decided to buy a new blog host; this time it is local. Sweet it is to just contact the server managers/owners through instant messaging and even SMS. I now have my blog hosted over at iRock Web Hosting. And I bought a new host! Welcoming EXTRAORDINARYKIDDO.COM…
Why this and why not the same old domain? Simple: I don’t hold my bryankarl.net domain and I simply cannot contact my old host to transfer the domain to my account. Damn. ExtraordinaryKiddo.com’s cool though. [Continue reading...]
October 14, 2009 – Four of us from Cebu Bloggers Society went again to Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort to witness the opening of Cebu’s only premier resort art gallery, The Bluewater Gallery.
Atty. Ouano, Mikyu, Kai, Jorich and I were picked up by Maribago Bluewater’s van around 5 in the afternoon. After which were we sent to the resort for the opening ceremony.
The resort looks new now. The last time I visited the resort was last May and now there are so many changes to the look and feel. One change is the center area where there used to be dolphins on a pool. Now, there’s a rock-fountain which I find equally cool.
Going forward, the opening ceremony was initiated by Mr. Ruben. Two artists on tandem were introduced namely Jet Florindo and Boy Kiamko. [Continue reading...]
Yahoo! I’m so happy when Winston texted me that I am one of the nominees for the Philippine Blog AwardsChikka’s Readers’ Choice Awards Visayas. Being a nominee for this one already makes me happy. I don’t expect to win since I’m not really that “exposed” yet to the blogosphere. I’m just happy for being part of the nominees, hehe.
So you can vote for me (if you want to) by texting CHIKKARC V3 to 2929. V3 is the code for my blog. That costs P2.50 per message and is only for SMART and GLOBE subscribers only. Aaw, why no Sun? I’m not forcing you though. Just do it if you want to or you like me, heee.
Anyways, see you all this Sunday on the Philippine Blog Awards (Visayas) 2009 at the Ayala City Sports. Be there!
Last Saturday, October 10, 2009, we had our final exam in Automata. It was quick and short (but still a bit hard) and we only spent less than an hour answering the exam. Maybe because we are quite excited to play the next activity, The Sipser Wars.
The Sipser Wars is a game thought about by our professor for us (modeled from Mafia Wars daw). Well, maybe for us to relax and enjoy the last formal week of classes before finals week will butt in. Sipser is the author of the text book we are using in class. It is the “tradition” of our batch to use the author’s name in the title of a culminating activity (e.g. Rosen’s Idol). The Sipser Wars’s rules are simple:
Prepare 5 sets of 5 water-filled plastics (like the ordinary ice water but we used 5×9 instead)
Two player per team per round
One, the gunner is blindfolded. The gunner is the only one who could throw the “ammunition” on other gunners. If a gunner is hit by another gunner from other teams, that team is out.
The other is the defense. He/she will take on the attacks (that meant getting wet) directed to the team’s gunner. He will also be the one to guide the gunner where to throw and attack.
I took on the defense role the whole time while my group mates were shifting in the gunner role. The game was like a riot. Nobody got out. Everyone played till their ammos run dry. I got wet head to foot, receiving all the flying water-filled plastics and running on bare foot in our soccer field. Here’s a short proof:
In the end, we all enjoyed the game even if it meant for the players including me to be wet, whole body. Our professor gamely joined in the next part of the game wherein we used larger plastics for ammo. The Sipser Wars is truly a memorable game. Made me think about trying more mature war games. The Cebu South Reclamation Properties is not just home to long, winding roads and wide grasslands. It is also home to a small but nice place where anybody (whether in pair, group or not) could hang out, rest and enjoy. The Boardwalk is a small area (rather out of place) that has a facade zen-style placed with a couple of wooden benches facing the open stretch of sea.
My friends and I had some “business” to do at the Boardwalk. We reached there by taxi and paid P75.00 from Sto. Nino Church. Always remember that the Boardwalk (or SRP) can only be reached either by a private vehicle or a taxi. [Continue reading...]
