People are getting curious and excited on what Globe will bring to its subscribers on April 4. They call it 4438. Let’s call it a surprise.
April 4 has been a historical day — from the maiden voyage of Voyager to the chemical weapon ban by Raegan, many significant events took place on this day. Shall we call 4438 day a historical day too? We have to find out. 4438 is a surprise for Globe, Tattoo and Touch Mobile users. On April 4, any hour, any minute, a special text message will be sent to our mobile phones. Don’t expect this to be a promo as an insider information says it is not. All we have to know is that this special message from 4438 will make us happy, very happy. [Continue reading...]
As part of the finals activity for the CMSC 142 class, we decided to have Suroy-suroy Sugbo, a class tour to some hot spots in Cebu North. Touring Cebu South is cliche so we decided to do it the opposite way this time.
Our first stop is in Lilo-an — where lilo or whirlpools are frequent. We went to see Silot Bay. Nothing fascinating really. Maybe because I’ve been here before. And the scorching sun’s heat was killing the enjoyment at the first stop.
Next stop is in Q Park, Compostela. It is a place of retreat. But then again, the challenge of going up to the top defeated us all. And Holy Week wasn’t due til next week, so we decided to go to the next stop instead. We went to Danao City. I noticed that what I see mostly of sites that talk about web hosting are those that give out web hosting ratings and reviews. Now let’s sing another tune. While I see such kinds of sites to be useful for potential buyers, they may not be good sources of tips and guides for stuff related to web hosting. Why? ‘Coz they’re too specific! People prefer to start their business with the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector. As they say, big things start small. SMEs do their marketing primarily by word-of-mouth. Some go beyond that and go to print (like ones in Globe’s Masigasig magazine) and TV. While some few others have discovered the power of the Internet in marketing their businesses, only a handful have chosen or even tried e-mail marketing. But do SMEs and e-mail marketing match?
A lot of SME entrepreneurs doubt the capability of e-mail marketing. Some are afraid they might be wasting their time. But I guess not. According to a Yahoo-Nielsen study in Urban Philippines, 28% of Filipinos use the internet and 63% of those check their e-mail regularly. That’s still quite a number. Connect that to e-mail marketing, is it effective? Partly. Because e-mail marketing does not rely on that alone. There are several tips to a successful e-mail marketing campaign. I am no Manny Villar supporter but his newest jingle/TV ad entitled Hindi Bawal Mangarap sounds really good. Ipinanganak kang mahirap, Patuloy na nangangarap… Is it because of the lyrics or is it because of the adorable kids singing the new jingle? I find the tune really catchy.
