This Pandanon Island post is continued from My Cebu Island Hopping Experience (Part 2).
Pandanon Island is a small island in Bohol and is accessible from Mactan, Cebu in around 40 minutes travel by banca. Imagine a small stretch of white sand, a crystal clear sea, a silent and peaceful place, perfect for any fun beach activity, perfect for relaxation.
Pandanon Island, Bohol
Pandanon Island is the last stop for the island hopping activity we (officemates, bosses and others) had the first week of July. After an energy-consuming swim with the fishes at Hilutungan and Nalusuan, we finally headed to the tropical island of Pandanon to have our barbecue lunch. We occupied a hut, a very huge hut, which costs Php2000. After lunch, we had some small talks, rugby ball catching with our boss and then off to the beach we all go again. Eh, I mean them. It was such a scorching-hot afternoon and I couldn’t take the sun anymore (all the electromagnetic waves hitting me) so I decided to stay at the hut for a while to play with our boss’ son.
He was shyly asking me to take a picture of his toy ball.
After a while, the guys went together to find a place to play rugby football. But the sun is really a murderer that time so we decided to slack off in one of the corners. We sat and just sat. After a while, the rest of the guys went to follow the girls who are in the middle of a trailing sandbar while a few of us stayed where we are and just enjoyed whatever we see on the beach.
I remember how hot the afternoon was. Not the hot we all experience but basically the wind’s not blowing on our direction. The sun’s heat plus the windless surrounding really made me sweat on the beach. The rest of my time was spent taking pictures.
The natural white sand of Pandanon Island.

Below the third hut is where we slacked off avoiding the sun.
Around 3PM, we all went back again to our banca and started our trip way back home, err, to Scuba World in Mactan I mean. The trip home was, I’d say, serene. The sun’s getting shy already and the winds started to howl but I was then already too tired to expose myself in the wide area so I just sat on the chair and enjoyed the fresh sea air. The trip back to Cebu was one of the most relaxing moments I had this year.
We also accidentally spotted dolphins as we were nearing Mactan Island. Yes, dolphins. They’re far but we could actually tell they’re dolphins and not scuba divers.
We reached Scuba World (beside Hilton Hotel) with a low-tide so we actually had to go down and walk on the shallow and muddy
seashore before we climb up. After we washed our feet and some picture taking, we went home safe and sound.
Achtung! Achtung! Advertisement! Our island hopping experience is made possible by Islands Banca Cruises who provided us with the cool banca and hospitable crew. If you want to go island hopping, contact them through (032) 2364896 or 09176300736.
Conclusion now… The island hopping experience, my first time, was really fun, great and memorable. It was also my first outing together with the company where I’m working at. I have just discovered places that I don’t usually go. Cebu and Bohol really hold wonders for the nature lover at heart. This is my first island hopping and I will be hopping in another Cebu island a week from now. Woot!
Have you had similar island hopping experiences too?
