SM City Cebu’s IMAX will open next week, July 9, to the public. The most talked movie from the last months, Avatar (in 3D), will be the first to be shown in IMAX. IMAX is coined as the ultimate movie experience because of its large screen, crisp display and improved sound. IMAX in the Philippines was first introduced in the SM Mall of Asia. SM City Cebu’s IMAX is the first outside of Metro Manila and would have a smaller screen, 14 meters, compared to MOA’s 22-meter high screen. SM City Cebu’s IMAX theater is a 400-seater by the way, to cater to the population of Visayas & Mindanao.
The ticket price for the IMAX in Cebu would be lower compared to that as of Metro Manila’s by 50 or 100 pesos. That means the ticket price range for SM City Cebu’s IMAX would be 300-400 pesos. Quite a big amount right, but people always say the quality of the theater & movie is worth the money you spend. Can’t wait to catch Avatar (again) in 3D on IMAX next week. Need to save up. d(^_^o)
In line with the IMAX launch next week is the IMAX pre-launch party (with 3 DJs) and “3D” fashion show (by Arcy Gayatin, Edwin Ao, Philip Rodriguez) that happened yesterday at SM Northwing. Cebu Bloggers Society members were invited to sort of cover the event. It was a quick event filled with mostly good-looking jet-setters from the high-end class, 
. Unfortunately, SM also follows the Pinoy trait of starting events late than scheduled. We were also just standing the whole time; no chairs provided for us. Ok we’re not VIP. But the cocktail food is fairly good and the view of wonderful-looking people is satisfying already.
The IMAX pre-launch party is so-so fun but what I’m looking forward to is IMAX’s real launching on July 9. See you there.
