Happy Second Year Anniversary, Cebu Bloggers Society!
Feb 9th
Cebu Bloggers Society is one of the Philippines’ premier blogging communities. On February 14, 2010, day of the hearts, Cebu Bloggers Society will celebrate its second year anniversary, on a time we’ll consider as the ‘Golden Age’ of blogging.
In two years, blogging in Cebu has ripened from just being a mere online diary to something that takes an active role in civic and social awareness.
One of the factors that contributed to this positive development in the blogging scene in Cebu is the creation of a local blogging community.
The Cebu Bloggers Society was founded on February 14, 2008, with the main goal of uniting Cebu-based bloggers into a well-bonded community. And indeed, after its creation, individuals with diverse backgrounds but with a common interest, which is to promote Cebu and advocate blogging as a key tool for progress, converged together to establish Cebu’s first and largest blogging community.
The Cebu Bloggers Society has really grown and evolved quite significantly. From its humble beginnings, the group presently has at least 80 members and the number is still bound to increase further.
When I joined the group last February 21, 2009, we were a not-so-big group. And then I saw it grow. Now we’re a very active group, playing many useful roles in society, tapping politics and marketing and a lot more.
My 2009 Is Amazing, 2010 Should Be Better
Dec 30th
I write this post before the new year comes to remember the good and bad things that I have done and that has happened to me this year 2009.
On a general note, 2009 is an amazing year for me. While I hear a lot whining about how terrible their 2009 is, I sit here smiling inside of how good my year came to be. A little recall: 2008 is one of the really terrible years for me. I had enemies, fall backs, insecurities and I forgot the other ones. I promised myself to fix my life come 2009. I guess I did. And that’s how I came to love 2009. Because it made me the person that left 2008 a better, stronger and wiser one.
1. February 21, 2009 is the day I officially became a member of Cebu Bloggers Society. It was in Enovlink, Jones. Mark Monta persuaded me to attend the meeting so I could officially become a member. I braced myself up and went to their meeting. At first I was reluctant to join the group as I was a very shy kid. But good thing I decided to. CBS makes up much of the reasons why I love my 2009. It’s not the events and the freebies. It’s the people that’s important to me now. They absolutely changed me for the better. Thank you CBS.
Maribago is my Quasi-Paradiso
Oct 28th
The first time I’ve been to Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort, I was more or less 11 years old. I still have pictures of the place (and me) stacked here in the photo album but I’d rather not share… too embarrassing. The second time I was there I was already 19 years old
and that was last summer where Maribago Bluewater invited us bloggers to explore the place. The third time was weeks ago when they opened their art gallery and we were invited to witness its grand opening. And the fourth time is what I’ll be sharing about now.
Sir Ruben Licera from Maribago/CBS told us that every Sunday starting October 25 until four weeks, 5 bloggers are given free day-tour passes to the resort. I signed up for the first Sunday, October 25. I then knew that the slots for October 25 were increased to 10 (and November 1 would be cancelled). Lucky or not?
My first goal for that resort trip was to rest. I’ve had excreted much energy last semester and I thought I might recharge at the beach. Well, all these inkling thoughts, erased.
Mikyu, Kai, Iggy, Atty. Ouano, Beejing, Agnes, Mark, Zyra, Blair and I were the first bloggers to enjoy Maribago’s treat.
We went to the resort around 9am as instructed by Sir Ruben. We then passed by the front desk, we were allowed in and went directly to the beach front. At this point, we were clueless with what to do. Kill time, I suppose. We picked those beach chairs under the huts but were told by officers that we are not allowed to do so unless we are checked-in. Ah, day-tour guests are only allowed those beach chairs unaccompanied by huts, lol. Remember that. Read the rest of this entry »
Philippine Blog Awards 2009, a Success!
Oct 27th
Woot, suddenly it felt like iBlog5 all over again. Well that’s what I felt during the Philippine Blog Awards 2009 – Visayas last October 18, 2009 at the Ayala City Sports, Cebu Business Park in Cebu City.

Miong, Prince, Bryan, Ada, Winston, Mica, Kevin
Though there were not too many bloggers who attended, the night was still full of fun and surprises. My Cebu Bloggers Society family was there. I had fun talking and cam whoring with Mica and Ada. It’s nice seeing Winston and Vanjohnn after a long time too. The last four I’ve mentioned are the factors that made PBA 09 feel like iBlog5. ![]()
I’d like to congratulate Sinjin for winning the Chikka’s Readers’ Choice Award. A very BIG congratulations to Cebu Bloggers Society for winning the Visayas’ Bloggers’ Choice Award! Kudos also to Globe’s Ten Digital Tribe winners, mostly from CBS. Dahong Laya also wins the Best Visayan Blog. For a list of winners announced during the event, click here. I Cast My Vote: Philippine Blog Awards 2009 Bloggers’ Choice Special Award (Visayas)
Oct 2nd
If I were to choose between voting for my blog, The Extraordinary Kiddo, and voting for another blog, then I’d probably vote… hmmm, let me think first. Hahaha.
First of all, it’s great knowing I’m part of the long line of nominees for the Philippine Blog Awards 2009 Bloggers’ Choice Special Award for Visayas. Together with me are some friends and co-Cebu Bloggers Society members (like Mikyu, Aika, Kristine Roa and Jayr). My classmate’s boyfriend is also one of the nominees.
But where will my vote befall? Should I go narcissus-style and vote for me and only me or should I cast my vote on a blog deserving to be branded Bloggers’ Choice?
…drum roll!
