Last July 11, 2009, I got to attend one big blogging and networking event at the Teatro Casino in Waterfront Hotel Cebu. The DigitalFilipino Club and Bloggers Networking Event was a total success! It was its second time in Cebu and my first time to attend the said event.
My expectations were big, as I know this is not just an ordinary event (it’s extraordinary! 
), but one wherein bloggers would be seen united and altogether connected. The DigitalFilipino Club and Bloggers Networking Event did not fail me. Aside from the informative talks about what’s buzzing around the blogosphere, the night was spent with a bunch of palatable dishes, some drinks and great music.
As usual, I’m with Cebu Bloggers Society and we came as a really big group wearing our brand new shirts with the line “Live, Love and BLOG”. We were happy to be invited. Honored.
DigitalFilipino Club and Bloggers Networking Event
The GTKY part was long yet fun. There were some “ooohs” and “aaahs”, sneers and claps heard throughout the portion. Then came the talk from Miss Janette Toral. The talks mostly included information about the DigitalFilipino club, its activities and achievements. My favorite portion is for the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs for 2009 since I am participating in the said activity. Reviewed were the past winners, why they were chosen and how they came to be truly influential blogs. It’s fun seeing the blogs of my friends flashing on the screen . I just wish Cebu Bloggers Society would be part of this year’s Top 10.
What followed are updates about the coming DigitalFilipino Web Awards 2009 and Philippine Schools Cyberfair 2010. By the way, I’m one of the project leaders (University of the Philippines – High School) in our Calles de Cebu: Gateway to a Nation’s History project which won GOLD (Historical Landmarks Category) in the International CyberFair 2006.
After the talks, came a short pause (a moment for CBS cam-whoring) and then came the raffle. I’m glad my classmate Jean won the green bag goodie and her house mate won the Yahoo! shirt. 
I did not win anything in the raffle though.
The Extraordinary Kiddo in Waterfront for the DigitalFilipino Club Event
I’d like to thank Jean, Anne, James, and Jean’s friends for coming. This is the first time I invited people from school to a blogging event since they’re not yet members of CBS. I think they pretty well enjoyed the night.
Overall, the event was a blast. The DigitalFilipino Club and Bloggers Networking Event is really a proof of how strong the blogging network in the Philippines is. The community is growing and I expect more events like this to come to bring all the bloggers together in one place where a subtle exchange of useful information could be facilitated.
Again kudos to the successful DigitalFilipino Club and Bloggers Networking Event and a big thank you to Miss Janette Toral and to PAGCOR and all the sponsors. I can’t wait for the third DigitalFilipino Club and Bloggers Networking Event.
