Trying Out My Canon 1000D: Backyard Test Shots

Last Wednesday I got the Canon EOS 1000D I ordered locally. Thanks to Iggy who inspired me into buying an entry-level DSLR, I can now pursue my photography frustrations. My EOS 1000D kit came in with the zoom lens EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS.

Since today’s a holiday, and before I proceed with my work-related tasks, I went around our backyard armed with my new DSLR. I already did this before using just a Cybershot digital camera. To my relief, I did fairly good shots that time. How about now?

I am still a newbie DSLR-user so the shots may not be really awesome — plus our backyard’s not really good-looking too. (Note: I did not use manual mode in shooting, I adjusted the aperture and ISO myself.)

I am not yet really good at macro shots though.

Here is the complete set on Flickr:

Any suggestions? Comments? ;-)

  1. Not bad for a newbie. Just out of curiosity though, how much did that Canon EOS 1000D cost? I’ve always wanted to have a DSLR and I’m getting jealous lol. Where did you buy it?

I bought it from a local seller. He gets his supplies from HK. I got it for around 25K pesos. :)
