This post is inspired by Mica’s This is my December – Excited and Thankful post which I just read this morning.
Gifts, parties, food, these don’t excite me much during the Christmas season. There’s more to Christmas than the tangible things we see, touch and hear. There’s more to Christmas than the glittering lights of every building, the grandiose setup of Christmas trees, the lines of parols on the street and the Christmas songs looping on our play lists.  Christmas, for me, is about being happy, appreciating life, thanking everyone, thanking God for the blessings, and showing love to everyone around you. Cliché but true.
I didn’t even start December with the best of luck. A pressing issue just came up at work but it’s not stopping me from still getting the happiness I deserve this season. A language proficiency exam, health issues and other matters try to get me bogged down but I’ll try to deal with them lightly. Again, Christmas should just be about happiness and thanksgiving.
How do I spend my Christmas? I’m not like everyone who try to get a full week’s worth of vacation during Christmas. As long as I get my December 25 and 26 work-free, then I’m cool. And that’s how my Christmas is going to be spent. With my family. For me, Christmas is best spent when you are with your family. Put all differences aside and just celebrate the happiness of the season.
Of course I think about those who are away from their families, those who are abroad and unable to go home this Christmas. I watched this video and it made me cry.
Thank you Coca-cola for this touching act.
Christmas would also be incomplete when you don’t spend it with your friends. Friends are your second family. I’m happy I have my friends who love and support me completely.
I look at our old Christmas party photos in Facebook and it really makes me happy. Looking forward to celebrating Christmas again with them.
Christmas is also not just about spending it with people closest to you. It’s also about having a positive mindset and attitude. I’d like to get out to the world again and socialize, meet new people and exchange happy thoughts with people I spend less time with. Christmas is also about interaction with the real world, making yourself realize how wonderful diversity is. I try to minimize myself getting annoyed with small things other people do. I hope I bring this attitude far beyond the Christmas season too.
So that’s it. That’s how I’m gonna spend my holidays — with my loved ones and a positive and happy mindset. Gifts, they bring  us short-term happiness. But what we do with our family and friends, the moments, no matter how simple, these are the ones we will bring with us for a lifetime.
Merry Christmas in advance!

Close nyo naman ng cousins mo! Never tried doing Christmas movie marathon with cousins, mapa-Christmas or not hehe.
This shows that nothing can replace the presence of those people who are important to us.
